Our Doctor of Audiology program is a three-year, full-time program that begins in the summer semester of the academic year.
We base admission decisions on a total profile of an applicant's qualifications; however, applicants are generally expected to meet or exceed the following requirements:

You'll submit two applications. The first is through the Communication Science and Disorders Centralized Application System (CSDCAS)

The second is the NIU Graduate School application, which comes with a nominal application fee (separate from those imposed by CSDCAS). You only need to include the following on this application:
Note: It is not necessary to attach your application materials (transcripts, statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, etc.) to the NIU Graduate School application since those items will already accompany your CSDCAS application.
You must apply through both CSDCAS and the NIU Graduate School to be considered for the current admissions cycle. Applications materials, payments, and transcripts must be received by 11:59 p.m. (ET) on January 1.

Our Au.D. cohorts frequently include individuals with a mixture of educational backgrounds, i.e., both with and without communication sciences and disorders (COMD) degrees. As such, to ensure all incoming students have solid foundational knowledge to build upon as they progress through the program, we strongly recommend completion of coursework in the following areas prior to beginning the Au.D. program:
