Autism Spectrum Disorder Community Resources

NIU Autism Caregiver Group

The focus of our Autism Caregiver Group is to provide helpful information, resources and a supportive environment, while offering families opportunities to connect with community professionals and therapeutic or recreational activities.

We are thrilled to be able to host in-person and virtual events, as well as continue to provide a monthly newsletter packed with resources, webinars, crafts, activities, and connection opportunities for families. Our NIU student volunteers are eager to be involved with the organization, and we hope you are too!

Child Development and Family Center (CDFC)

Our clinic works with the NIU Child Development and Family Center (CDFC) to reach more members of our community. The center is dedicated to providing high-quality care to the children of NIU students, NIU faculty and staff and community members. It also offers students and faculty valuable opportunities for research and observation in child development.

Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association (KSRA)

The Kishwaukee Special Recreation Association (KSRA) enriches the lives of people with disabilities through goal-driven, diverse recreational opportunities. With their many programs and inclusion services, your family can participate in a number of events and activities best suited to your interests and needs.

RAMP

Within the DeKalb community, individuals have access to RAMP, a non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living. RAMP utilizes an independent living philosophy with a mission to build an inclusive community that encourages individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. They offer youth, adult, community and mental health services.
