Minor in Financial Counseling

Our minor in financial counseling promotes personal financial literacy and will prepare students to pursue careers in the financial planning and financial counseling industry, which is one of the fastest-growing career fields. Financial Counseling helps individuals and families understand how to manage limited resources to achieve financial goals and build a strong financial foundation.

Courses in this 21-22 credit minor provide opportunities for students to learn how to make sound financial decisions, create and implement a budget, and manage credit and debt, as well as to apply the knowledge and skills by working with individuals and families to meet their financial goals and solve financial problems. Students are encouraged to pursue the Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) certification through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education.
