The Physical Therapy Program is located in the School of Allied Health and Communicative Disorders, in the College of Health and Human Sciences. NIU’s Physical Therapy Program has been fully accredited since its inception in 1980 as a Bachelor’s program. The program offers courses at the undergraduate and graduate level with the D.P.T. program.
To practice as a Physical Therapist, an individual must be licensed by the state in which he or she wishes to practice. Requirements for licensure include successful completion of an accredited program in physical therapy and meeting all licensing requirements of the state.
Mission Statement: In response to societal pressure for quality health care service, the physical therapy program at Northern Illinois University strives to provide ethical, competent physical therapists through the education and training of students to become qualified, professional practitioners of the art and science of physical therapy.
