Fast Fact: In the last five years, enrollment in the Pre-Physical Therapy program is up 41.6.
The Pre-Physical Therapy Emphasis in the Health Sciences (B.S) major provides the educational foundation needed to pursue graduate degrees in a variety of health-related fields, as well as function in a variety of entry-level health care jobs. Admission to the professional program in Physical Therapy, leading to the D.P.T., is competitive and requires completion of a Bachelor's degree.
The Pre-Physical Therapy Emphasis curriculum includes course work that meets the university's core competency and general education requirements and the admission requirements of the professional program. Students take a variety of courses, including classes in: Science, Math, Rehabilitation Services, and Public Health.
Freshmen and Sophomores are advised through the College of Health and Human Sciences advising office (815) 753-1891. Juniors and Seniors are advised by Physical Therapy faculty (815) 753-1383.
This plan is an example of what a four-year plan could look like for a typical first-year student. Placement exam scores in Math and Chemistry, as well as the completion of college coursework, may change the plan. It should not be used in place of regular academic advising appointments with an academic advisor. All Health Sciences Pre-PT students are encouraged to meet with their adviser each semester to discuss course scheduling.
