Summer Camps


Get a jump start on your future and have a good time too, when you attend our residential summer camps.

You'll stay in NIU's Holmes Student Center Hotel and learn in workshops led by our Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Fashion Merchandising faculty.

During this day camp for students in grades 8-12, participants will create a fashion color forecast and experiment with fashion design using the Adobe Creative Suite. There will be a visual merchandising competition with participants creating real window displays in display cases. Winners will receive a prize.

Cost to attend is $150 per person. Lunch will be included in the camp.

  • Travel trends: Learn why people travel as well as how to plan trips; participate in an "Amazing Race"-inspired competition
  • Hands-on hotel management: Discover what goes on behind-the-scenes at the hotel you’ll be staying at: The Holmes Student Center Hotel
  • Event planning/restaurant ops: Create a lunch event, from menu planning and catering to tablescaping and service, for your own guests in the historic Chandelier Room
