Minor in Gerontology

The interdisciplinary undergraduate minor in gerontology allows you to add evidence-based knowledge of the life-course and aging to your major field of academic specialization (e.g., communicative disorders, public health, nursing, physical therapy, nutrition and other fields). If your major is in the School of Family and Consumer Sciences, you are eligible to pursue this minor. NIU also offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate certificate in leadership in aging services.
Regardless of the career path you pursue, your knowledge of older people and the aging experience will be a valuable asset in the job market.
