Nutrition is a diverse and dynamic major that teaches you about the relationship between nutrition, healthy eating, health maintenance, disease prevention and chronic disease development. Through this degree, you’ll learn how to work with individuals, families and the community to enhance lives. NIU has been preparing professionals in nutrition and dietetics since the turn of the century. When you graduate from our program, you’ll join a vast network of alumni across the region and the nation.
This degree prepares you to be part of a health care team to use nutrition to treat and prevent disease. It also provides a great background for positions in public health and community programs, as well as sales, development, or communications work in the food industry.

The NIU baccalaureate degree in Nutrition, Dietetics and Wellness, Dietetics Didactic Program (DPD area of study) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
