Welcome! The NIU Dietetic Internship Program (DI) provides students the opportunity to develop skills in the areas of medical nutrition therapy, food service management, life-cycle nutrition and community nutrition with a concentration in Community Nutrition and Health Promotion.

In our program, students also work to earn a Master of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.  Being located in northern Illinois, many excellent dietitians/preceptors practice in diverse settings from the DeKalb and Rockford area to the surrounding suburbs as well as in the larger metropolitan area of Chicago.

Important Criminal Background Check Information

To comply with clinical requirements, all clinical students are required to complete two background checks.

Effective December 14th, 2012, criminal background checks for the College of Health and Human Sciences will be processed by an outside vendor. Click here for important information about criminal background checks.
