Sigma Theta Tau
The Beta Omega chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing was established in October, 1975. Members are comprised of undergraduate students, registered nurse students, graduate students, nurse leader candidates. Membership is based on established criteria and is by invitation only.
Announcements
An invitation email from Sigma Theta Tau International and another reminder email have been sent out to the inductee candidates at the beginning of April. Please watch for the emails and respond to the invitation by following the instructions.
The Induction Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 1 p.m. in the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center. A general meeting will be held right after the ceremony. More information will follow as we get closer to the event
Beta Omega Chapter invites active chapter members to submit proposals for research studies in the area of nursing practice, education, or administration. The submission deadline is April 1, 2012. Recent Inductees
The Board Members of Sigma Theta Tau International, Beta Omega Chapter, inducted 50 candidates on May 2, 2011 at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center, Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, IL. Please congratulate the 2011 inductees on their achievement.
Membership

Membership is by invitation only.
- Formerly an all-paper process, the new induction system is an electronic induction system.
- Individuals meeting the criteria for membership will receive an electronic invitation.
- Response deadlines, membership fees and induction date and time will be included in the e-mail invitation.
Membership Criteria
Undergraduate Students must:
have completed ½ of the nursing curriculum; - have at least a GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 grading scale);
- rank in the upper 35 percentile of the graduating class;
- meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Registered Nurse Students must:
- have completed 12 credit hours at current school;
- have completed ½ of the nursing curriculum;
- have at least a GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 grading scale);
- rank in the upper 35 percentile of graduating class;
- meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Graduate Students must:
have completed ¼ of the nursing curriculum; - have at least a GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4.0 grading scale);
- meet the expectation of academic integrity.
Nurse Leader Candidates must:
- legally recognized to practice nursing in his/her country;
- minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field;
- demonstrated achievement in nursing.
