Finney Nursing Student Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established by Harold W. and Janet P. Finney to assist nursing students obtain a nursing education. The endowed fund provides scholarship support to both undergraduate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate academic success in the nursing program and who are financially in need.
Sarah S. Fuller Memorial Scholarship Fund
Paying tribute to Professor Sarah S. Fuller, this memorial scholarship honors her excellence as an educator and nurse researcher. The scholarship is awarded to graduate students who are conducting clinical research for their graduate thesis.
Frank Nursing Student Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established by Dr. Irving & Roseanne K. Frank. Dr. Irving Frank taught growth and development at NIU for nursing students and Professor Roseanne Frank was a faculty member in the School of Nursing, teaching community health nursing. This scholarship was established to assist undergraduate nursing students obtain a nursing education.
Frerichs Nursing Student Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established by Dr. Marian Frerichs who was a member of the School of Nursing Faculty from 1962 to 1993. This scholarship was established to assist undergraduate nursing students obtain a nursing education.
Annette Lefkowitz Fund for Nursing Research (pdf)
This endowed fund was established to honor Professor Annette Lefkowitz, who served as the first director and chair of the NIU School of Nursing when it was founded in 1959. This endowed research grant is awarded annually to an undergraduate or graduate nursing student who is a member of Sigma Theta Tau.
Jane Richards Nursing Student Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established by Emmet C. Richards (1952) in honor and memory of his late wife, Jane Elizabeth Leach Richards, who worked during her lifetime as a nurse. The scholarship funded by this endowment is presented to undergraduate nursing students who exhibit academic success in the nursing program and who are financially in need.
Nurse Traineeship Grant for Graduate Students
The School of Nursing receives a large grant from the federal government each year to provide tuition, fees and a monthly stipend to graduate students who are pursing full-time graduate study. These funds are also available to part-time students during the last year of graduate school. Applications and information can be obtained from Mary Kain, Administrative Secretary.
Phyllis Ross Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship fund was established by the Philip Ross, husband of Phyllis Ross to honor her memory. Phyllis always wanted to be a nurse but she never was able to complete a formal nursing program. She worked at St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford in the Emergency Room for 23 years supervising the clerical staff. The scholarship assists undergraduate nursing students obtain a nursing education.
Gisela Wenner Nursing Scholarship
Alex Wenner endowed this scholarship in memory of his mother Gisela Wenner. Gisela was a practicing nurse in Germany before she married and moved with her family to the U.S. The intent of the scholarship is to encourage and support students who are working toward a baccalaureate degree in nursing.
