Clinical Requirements

All documentation regarding clinical requirements is kept at the College of Health & Human Sciences.
Copies of your clinical requirements can be turned in to the School of Nursing Drop Box outside room 190 or mailed to:

It is imperative that you keep your own copy of all records verifying compliance with clinical requirements.

All the clinical requirements are mandated by the federal government and the clinical agencies that the School of Nursing uses.

List of Requirements:

Titer lab values and interpretive standards must be reported. Immunity must be demonstrated or a student must sign a release form.

One Time Requirements

  • Hepatitis B titer
  • Rubella titer
  • Rubeola titer
  • Varicella titer
  • Mumps titer
  • Initial Two Step TB
  • Diptheria / Tetanus - Tetanus Booster shot within last 10 years.
  • Drug Testing
  • Criminal Background Check (pdf)

Yearly Requirements

  • Processing Fee
  • TB Test
  • CPR
  • Liability Insurance (available from NIU for $13 per year)
  • Health Insurance
  • Standard Precautions Training (BBP)
  • Current RN License (every other year at renewal time)
