Goal and Vision

COMDSA

Communicative Disorder Student Association is a group for students interested in learning about communication disorders and their impact on society. COMDSA meets the third Wednesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. in McMurray auditorium. All are welcome to attend!

COMRAD - a subcommittee of COMDSA

COMRAD seeks to encourage students from diverse cultures and backgrounds to not only consider a possible career in communicative disorders but to successfully complete the necessary academic program.  The organization’s primary objectives are to retain minority students currently at NIU through mentoring and support and to increase the number of minority enrollees in academic preparation programs focusing on communicative disorders. COMRAD meets monthly.  E-mail Sherrill Morris at srmorris@niu.edu  .

  • Intramurals
COMDSA has teams that participate in a variety of intramural activities offered through the NIU recreational center. Contact Abbie Poynor apoynor@niu.edu .
  • Troop Care Package
Our troops need items to help them relax and take their minds off the war.  You can drop off items that they can use in their leisure time (e.g. DVDs, crossword puzzles, cards, stationary, etc.) in the 339 Wirtz COMDSA office. For more information, contact Erin Buckner ebuckner@niu.edu
  • Hope Haven - COMDSA
Volunteers go to  the DeKalb County homeless shelter on Wednesdays from 7:00-8:00 p.m. to read books, play games, and do crafts with the children who live there.  For more information contact Jennifer Froeter at jfroeter@niu.edu.  A collection box for gently used books and magazines (for children and adults), crayons, glue, construction paper, children’s scissors, markers, glitter, or any other art supplies you would like to contribute is located in the 339 Wirtz COMDSA office.
