What is Involved in a Team Approach?

A team approach provides a cross-disciplinary analysis of your child's developmental level, learning style, and interaction patterns. This approach results in an integrated and functional portrait of your child's strengths and challenges. Team members will include family members and professionals from various disciplines such as speech-language pathology, audiology, counseling, and other fields as needed.

What can Families Expect?

A parent-professional partnership will be used to create of treatment goals and apply the treatment strategies learned during the therapy sessions.

  • An initial hour-long conference will be scheduled. Assessment procedures will be created to address individual family needs.
  • A second two-hour appointment will be scheduled so that family members and professionals will have an opportunity to observe your child's cognitive, social-emotional, communicative, and sensorimotor behaviors as they play or participate in structured Activities.

After these visits, all team members will help determine eligibility for services, ascertain developmental functioning, and develop intervention and curricular strategies.
